(115) Ame-no-Uzume, the Misogi-no-jo Goddess
This is a wonderful painting of the Shinto goddess, Ame-no-Uzume,
the patron of the arts of dancing and performance. She was
famed for exposing her lovely breasts—- at the time
of her sexy dance that made heaven laugh with joy and brought
Amaterasu out of her cave, and when she showed Sarutahiko
(Morihei believed he was an incarnation of this deity) the
Way in this world. Ame-no-uzume is also the goddess of misogi-no-jo
in Aikido.
