the Shooting Buddha, Ohira Zenzo.
Ohira Zenzo (1874-1952) a kyudo master who signed himself the “Shooting (the arrow) Buddha.” Zenzo was very similar to Awa Kenzo, the kyudo master from the classic Zen in the Art of Archery. Both combined Zen elements with their teachings of the bow. Zenzo retired from business in his late fifties and devoted himself to teaching Zen archery and painting Zenga in the rough Nantembo style. New mounting, a classic Budo Zen art theme.
